Know Those Trying to Contact You

To stay as safe as possible, it is important that you check and recheck all your moves. This is especially true as it pertains to the worldwide web.

With that in mind, remember a few pointers along the way:

1.Solicitations
Are you someone who gets inundated with solicitations again and again? If so, you’re not alone.

For millions of individuals, the phone never seems to stop ringing. Even with telemarketing rules in place, many telemarketers try and maneuver around them.

In the event you are still getting call after call, what about doing an online phone number search?

Such a search allows you to track down where those annoying calls are originating from. Once you’ve been able to locate the caller, you can let them know you want the calls to stop. Of most importance, never give out personal info to anyone calling you you’re not familiar with.

Among personal items that need to stay personal:

  • Social Security number
  • Bank account information
  • Credit card information
  • Your employer
  • Anything involving your children

Being protective of personal info, you lessen chances of someone causing major strife to your life.

Remember, that strife can end up leading to a lost credit card or even your bank account etc. being compromised. If this occurs, it can take some time for you to get things back in order to your satisfaction.

2.Travel
If you’re someone who enjoys traveling, you are not alone.

That said it is important you do not advertise your time away from home, especially over the Internet.

As an example, you are heading out on vacation next week. On your Facebook page, you post details about when and where you’re going. So, you didn’t set Facebook settings so only friends and family can see posts. As a result, the general public now knows you will be away.

Another example you want to avoid is posting travel photos while away from home. By advertising you are not home, your home could be easy to break into.

Always think about any possible ramifications from making such online posts.

Not only can your personal safety be in jeopardy, but your financial well-being can be threatened too. In the event someone is in fact watching you, they could follow you wherever you may be headed. If this happens, will you be able to stay safe in the process?

3.Home

How secure is your home from intruders?

Although some still leave doors and windows unlocked in today, don’t overlook safety.

Always make sure your home is as secure as possible.

This includes the following:

  • Having a home security system
  • Keeping the property well-kept so it shows one or more people live there on a regular basis

  • Having someone check on the home if you’re traveling for work or on vacation

By being smart, you decrease the odds of someone unwelcome setting foot in your home.

So, are you feeling as protected at home as you’d like to be?
